PHOENIX – PetSmart announced on September 20 the launch of The Pharmacy at PetSmart, an online platform for pet owners to order prescription drugs and supplements through the pet retailer.
Customers can upload their vets’ prescriptions to the platform and place orders through PetSmart’s new online pharmacy, which are then shipped directly to the consumer. PetSmart manages prescription verification through each veterinarian and clinic.
“The PetSmart Pharmacy is an exciting new way to help our customers access pet medication quickly and easily,” said Kristin Shane, senior vice president of merchandising at PetSmart. “Whether you order your prescriptions for your dog or cat, on petsmart.com or our mobile app, we’ll make sure you get exactly what your pet needs to thrive, delivered right to your doorstep.”
Free shipping is available for orders of $ 49 or more through January 30, 2022. Other discounts are available for PetSmart members and Autoship customers.
PetSmart has partnered with Allivet to fill pet prescriptions ordered through The Pharmacy. Allivet is licensed in all 50 states.
“We are delighted with our partnership with PetSmart,” said Sree Upadhyayula, President and CEO of Allivet. at the lowest prices to an even wider audience. “
The news follows shortly after the expansion of two more pet retail players into the pet prescription space. Pet Supplies Plus announced earlier this month the addition of prescription drugs and pet food products to its e-commerce platform.
Chewy has also launched a new vet-only marketplace, Practice Hub ™, to help vets and veterinary clinics sell products directly through its online platform.
